Critter Factbook answers the quick questions people ask about animals: what does it eat, how long does it live, where does it live, does it hibernate. It is an independent site, not connected to any park, agency or university.
Quick answers online often drop the detail that matters, such as which species a figure belongs to or where it was measured. Each page here gives a one-line answer, says whose numbers they are, and shows the original sentence with a link, so you can check it in a few seconds.
What we do and do not do
- Every answer is backed by a public page from the National Park Service, NOAA Fisheries or a university extension service. The sources page lists all of them and explains how quotes are checked.
- We do not observe animals ourselves and do not add facts that no source states.
- There are no ads, sponsored links, accounts or pictures here.
- This is not veterinary, medical or pest-control advice. For a tick bite, a sick animal or wildlife in your house, ask a professional.
